š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Move the passenger seat all the way back for more room.
- Have a flashlight ready so you can see the filter housing under the glovebox.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Find the cabin filter access cover
- Go to the passenger footwell and look up under the glovebox using a flashlight.
- Youāll see a rectangular filter cover on the HVAC (heater/AC) box.
Step 2: Remove the filter cover
- If your cover has a screw: remove it with a Torx T20 screwdriver.
- If your cover uses tabs: gently release the tabs using a plastic trim removal tool. A trim tool is a plastic pry tool that helps pop clips without scratching.
- Lower the cover and set it aside.
Step 3: Slide out the old cabin filter
- Pull the filter straight out of the slot by hand while wearing nitrile gloves.
- Keep it level as it comes out to avoid dumping leaves and dust.
- Note the airflow arrow on the filter frame (this matters for the new one).
Step 4: Clean the filter housing
- Use a shop vacuum with crevice tool to remove loose debris from inside the housing opening.
- Tip: Donāt push debris deeper inside.
Step 5: Install the new cabin filter
- Match the new filterās airflow arrow to the direction you noted from the old filter.
- Slide the new filter into the housing by hand until it seats fully and sits flat.
Step 6: Reinstall the cover
- Reinstall the cover and make sure all tabs are fully engaged by hand.
- If equipped, install the screw using a Torx T20 screwdriver and Torque to 1.5 Nm (13 in-lbs) (snug, not tight).

- Start the engine and run the fan on medium, then high, to confirm strong airflow.
- Switch between fresh air and recirculation to confirm there are no rattles from the cover.
- If thereās a musty smell, run A/C for a few minutes on fresh air to help clear old odors.
