🔧 Soul - Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Your cabin air filter cleans the air that comes through the vents (heat/AC). Replacing it helps airflow, reduces odors, and keeps dust/pollen out of the cabin.

⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and set the parking brake before starting.
- ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the glove box hinge area when lowering it.

- Cabin air filter - Qty: 1
📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the HVAC system off (fan off) before removing the filter.
- Move any items out of the glove box so they don’t fall out.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box fully and remove everything inside.
- Use nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean.
- Use a flashlight to see the side stops and the filter cover clearly.
Step 2: Release the glove box stops
- On the sides of the glove box are soft “stops” that keep it from dropping all the way.
- Gently push the glove box inward on one side, then the other, to slip the stops past the dash opening.
- Go slow to avoid cracking the glove box.
Step 3: Disconnect the glove box damper arm
- On the right side you’ll see a small damper arm (a little shock/strap that makes the glove box lower slowly).
- Carefully unclip it by hand; if it’s tight, use a plastic trim tool set (specialty) to gently pry the clip free.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the glove box is the cabin filter housing with a rectangular cover.
- Press the tabs on the cover (usually one on each side) and pull the cover straight off.
- Use a flashlight to spot the tabs and confirm they’re fully released.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out of the housing.
- Keep it level as you pull it out to avoid dumping leaves/dust into the blower area.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter (correct direction)
- Look for the “AIR FLOW” arrow on the side of the new filter.
- Install it so the arrow points down (toward the floor) on the Soul.
- If the filter won’t slide in easily, don’t force it—pull it back out and make sure it isn’t flipped or caught on the housing edges.
Step 7: Reassemble the glove box
- Reinstall the filter housing cover until the tabs click into place.
- Reconnect the damper arm on the right side by snapping it back onto its pin.
- Lift the glove box back up and push the sides inward again so the stops pass the dash opening and the glove box closes normally.
✅ After Repair
- Start the Soul and turn the fan to medium, then high.
- Confirm airflow is stronger and there are no rattles behind the glove box.
- If you hear a fluttering noise, recheck that the filter is fully seated and not bent.
