📋 Before You Begin

• Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
• Move the passenger seat back for working room.
• Open the glove box and remove any items so nothing falls out.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Access the glove box area

• Use nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
• Open the glove box fully and support it with one hand.
• Use a flashlight to look along the right side of the glove box for a small “damper” arm (a small strap that slows the glove box).

Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper arm

• Use a trim clip tool to gently pry the damper arm off its mounting peg.
• Go slow—plastic tabs can snap.

Step 3: Drop the glove box down

• Press inward on both glove box side walls by hand to clear the built-in “stops.”
• Let the glove box swing downward toward the floor.
• Use the flashlight to locate the rectangular cabin filter housing door behind the glove box.

Step 4: Remove the cabin filter door

• Pinch the locking tabs on the filter door by hand (or gently with the trim clip tool if tight).
• Pull the door straight off and set it aside.

Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter

• Slide the old filter straight out by hand.
• Keep the filter level as you remove it to avoid dumping debris.
• Use the flashlight to check for leaves/debris inside the housing, and remove any you can reach by hand.

Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter

• Check the airflow arrow on the new filter frame.
• Install it with the arrow pointing down (toward the floor) to match Veloster airflow direction.
• Slide the filter in until it sits flat and fully seated.

Step 7: Reassemble the glove box

• Reinstall the filter door by pushing it on until the tabs click.
• Lift the glove box back up and press the sides inward again to get past the stops.
• Reconnect the damper arm onto its peg by hand (use the flashlight to line it up).

• Start the car and run the blower on medium-high for 30 seconds.
• Switch between fresh air and recirculation to confirm airflow sounds normal.
• If you hear ticking or rubbing, reopen the filter door and make sure the filter is not bowed or upside down.
