🔧 Sienna - Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Your cabin air filter traps dust, pollen, and road debris before air reaches the cabin. On your Sienna, this is a quick glove-box service and usually takes only a few minutes.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before starting.
  • Open the glove box carefully so it does not drop suddenly.
  • Keep fingers clear of the glove box damper arm and retaining tabs.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim tool or small flat-blade screwdriver
  • Flashlight
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Cabin air filter - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Make sure the climate control is off.
  • Have the new filter ready before opening the housing.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the glove box

  • Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
  • Empty the glove box if it is heavy.
  • Go slow to avoid breaking tabs.

Step 2: Release the glove box stops

  • Use your hands to gently squeeze both sides of the glove box inward.
  • This clears the glove box stops so the box can hang down farther.
  • If needed, use a trim tool or small flat-blade screwdriver very carefully to help lift the side tabs.

Step 3: Remove the cabin filter cover

  • Look behind the glove box for the rectangular cabin filter access cover.
  • Use your hand to unclip the cover and remove it.
  • Keep steady pressure on the clips.

Step 4: Remove the old filter

  • Slide the old cabin air filter straight out.
  • Pay attention to the airflow arrow on the filter before removing it.
  • Use a flashlight if the area is dark.

Step 5: Install the new filter

  • Compare the new filter to the old one to make sure they match.
  • Insert the new filter in the same direction as the airflow arrow.
  • Push it fully into the housing by hand.

Step 6: Reinstall the cover and glove box

  • Snap the filter cover back into place by hand.
  • Lift the glove box back up and push the side stops back into position.
  • Close the glove box and make sure it opens and closes normally.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the blower fan on and check for strong airflow.
  • Listen for any rattles behind the glove box.
  • If airflow still seems weak, verify the filter is seated correctly.
