🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the glove box area

• Use your hands to open the glove box and lower it fully.
• Remove any items inside so they do not fall out.

Step 2: Remove the glove box stop or side trim

• Use a trim removal tool to gently release any trim pieces that block access.
• If your XC60 has a stop strap or retaining limiter, release it carefully by hand.
• Work slowly to avoid breaking clips.

Step 3: Remove the cabin filter cover

• Locate the cabin filter cover behind or under the glove box area.
• Use a Torx T25 screwdriver to remove the cover fasteners if equipped.
• Pull the cover off and set it aside.

Step 4: Remove the old filter

• Slide the old cabin air filter out by hand.
• Note the airflow arrow direction on the old filter before removing it.
• Keep the filter level so debris does not spill out.

Step 5: Install the new filter

• Use the new cabin air filter and match the airflow arrow to the direction shown on the old one.
• Slide the filter into the housing fully by hand.
• Make sure it sits flat and is not folded or pinched.

Step 6: Reinstall the cover and glove box trim

• Reinstall the cabin filter cover by hand first.
• If removed, tighten the fasteners with the Torx T25 screwdriver.
• Snap the glove box trim or stop back into place using your hands or the trim removal tool.

Step 7: Close up and test airflow

• Close the glove box.
• Start the vehicle and turn the blower fan on.
• Check that airflow is strong and there are no rattles.
