š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the ignition OFF and make sure the blower fan is OFF.
- Move the front passenger seat back to give yourself room.
- Empty the glove box first.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box and remove everything inside.
- Use a flashlight to look for the small ādamperā arm on the right side (itās a small soft-open link that controls how the glove box drops).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper (right side)
- Gently pry the damper arm off its pin using a plastic trim removal tool or small flathead screwdriver.
- Go slowāthis clip is plastic and should pop off without much force.
Step 3: Release the glove box stops and lower the glove box
- With both hands, push the left and right sides of the glove box inward to clear the āstops.ā
- Let the glove box rotate downward toward the floor.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the glove box, find the rectangular cabin filter housing.
- Press the locking tabs and remove the cover by hand; use the flashlight if needed to see the tabs clearly.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Pull the filter straight out of the slot by hand.
- Note the airflow arrow direction printed on the filter (usually āAIR FLOWā and an arrow).
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter
- Slide the new cabin air filter into the housing in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure the airflow arrow matches the vehicleās direction marking (or matches how the old filter sat).
- If it buckles, pull it out and re-seat it.
Step 7: Reinstall cover and glove box
- Reinstall the housing cover by hand until it clicks.
- Lift the glove box back up and push the sides inward again to pass the stops.
- Reconnect the damper arm onto its pin on the right side by hand (it should snap on).
ā After Repair
- Start the vehicle and turn the blower fan to medium/high to confirm strong airflow.
- Cycle between fresh air and recirculation to confirm normal operation.
- If you hear a fluttering noise, the filter may not be seated flatārecheck it.
