🔧 Enclave - Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Your Enclave’s cabin air filter cleans the air that comes through the A/C and heater vents. Replacing it helps airflow, reduces smells, and keeps dust/pollen out of the cabin.

📋 Before You Begin

- 📦 Empty the glovebox so nothing falls out when it drops down.
- 🔦 Have a flashlight ready so you can see the filter door clearly.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and clear the glovebox
- Open the glovebox fully and remove all contents.
- Use a small flashlight to look along the sides and lower area for any stops/damper.
Step 2: Disconnect the glovebox damper (if equipped)
- On the right side of the glovebox, locate the small “damper” arm (a small plastic arm that slows the glovebox).
- Carefully pop it off using a plastic trim removal tool (specialty).
- Go slow—plastic tabs break easily.
Step 3: Lower the glovebox to access the filter housing
- Push inward on both glovebox side walls to clear the built-in stops.
- Let the glovebox rotate downward to hang open.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the glovebox, find the cabin filter access cover/door.
- If it uses clips, release them by hand; if it uses screws, remove them with a 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet.
- Set the cover (and screws, if any) aside.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out.
- Note the airflow direction marking (usually an arrow) on the old filter frame.
- Wear nitrile gloves and keep the dirty side from touching the glovebox area.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter
- Slide the new filter into the housing the same way the old one came out.
- Match the airflow arrow direction to the marking on the housing/old filter.
- If it won’t slide, don’t force it.
Step 7: Reinstall the access door and glovebox
- Reinstall the filter cover/door by hand; if there were screws, install them using a 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet until snug.
- Lift the glovebox back up and push the sides inward again to pass the stops back into position.
- Reconnect the damper arm using the plastic trim removal tool (specialty) if needed.
✅ After Repair
- 🧪 Start the vehicle and run the blower on medium, then high, to confirm strong airflow.
- 👃 Check for any whistling or rattling (usually means the cover isn’t fully seated).
- 🗓️ Plan to replace it about every 12 months, or sooner in dusty/pollen-heavy conditions.
