Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the glove box
- Open the glove box fully and empty any items inside.
- Use your hands to press in the sides of the glove box so it can swing down farther.
Step 2: Release the glove box damper
- Use a small flathead screwdriver if needed to gently pop the damper arm off its pin.
- Be careful not to force the plastic pieces.
Step 3: Lower the glove box
- Use your hands to lower the glove box until it hangs down.
- This exposes the cabin air filter cover behind it.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter cover
- Use your hands to release the clips on the filter access cover.
- Set the cover aside.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Use your hands to slide the old filter out carefully.
- Pay attention to the airflow arrow on the filter. It shows the direction the filter was installed.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter
- Use your hands to insert the new filter in the same direction as the old one.
- Make sure the airflow arrow points the correct way.
- Do not bend the filter.
Step 7: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Use your hands to snap the filter cover back into place.
- Raise the glove box and reconnect the damper arm.
- Push the glove box sides inward if needed so it closes normally.
