📋 Before You Begin

• Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
• Open the passenger door for better access to the glove box area.
• Set your HVAC to OFF before starting.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Empty and open the glove box

• Remove everything from the glove box so nothing falls out.
• Open the glove box fully.

Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper arm

• On the right side of the glove box, find the small “damper” arm (it slows the glove box when it opens).
• Use a trim removal tool (plastic) to gently pop the damper arm off its pin.
• Tip: Pull outward, not downward.

Step 3: Drop the glove box down

• Squeeze the left and right sides of the glove box inward with your hands to clear the built-in stops.
• Let the glove box swing down toward the floor.
• If a screw or strap is present on your glove box, remove it using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access cover

• Behind the glove box, locate the rectangular filter cover/tray area.
• Press the side tabs and pull the cover off by hand (use the trim removal tool (plastic) if it’s tight).

Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter

• Slide the filter tray out toward you.
• Pull the old filter out of the tray.
• Use a flashlight to check for leaves/debris in the filter housing and wipe out by hand with a nitrile glove on.

Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter

• Put the new filter into the tray in the same orientation as the old one.
• Look for the airflow arrow on the filter frame and install it to match airflow direction (commonly DOWN on this setup).
• Slide the tray back in until fully seated.

Step 7: Reassemble the glove box

• Reinstall the filter cover by hand until the tabs click.
• Lift the glove box back up and squeeze the sides inward again to pass the stops.
• Reconnect the damper arm by pressing it back onto its pin (use the trim removal tool (plastic) to guide it if needed).
• If you removed a screw/strap, reinstall it using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

• Start the engine and turn the fan to medium/high to confirm strong airflow.
• Switch between fresh air and recirculation to confirm normal operation.
• If you hear a ticking noise from the blower, recheck for debris in the housing.
