Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate the battery
- Open the hood and find the battery on the driver side of the engine bay.
- Check the terminals and hold-down bracket before loosening anything.

Step 2: Disconnect the negative terminal
- Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to loosen the negative terminal nut.
- Remove the negative cable and tuck it aside so it cannot spring back and touch the post.

- Place the new 12V battery, Group 48/H6 into the tray in the same direction as the old one.

- Reinstall the hold-down bracket and tighten it with the 10mm socket.
- Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
Step 8: Reconnect the terminals
- Use the 10mm socket and ratchet to install the positive cable first.
- Then install the negative cable second.
- Torque to 5 Nm (44 in-lbs) for the terminal clamps, or snug plus a small turn if no torque wrench is available.
- Apply battery terminal protectant spray after tightening.
Step 9: Verify the installation
- Make sure both terminals are fully seated and cannot twist by hand.
- Close the hood and start the vehicle.
- If the engine cranks slowly or warning lights stay on, recheck the connections.
