🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the battery
- Open the tailgate and remove the cargo floor panel.
- Use a trim panel tool to lift any cargo trim covers over the battery area.
- Remove the battery cover if equipped.
Step 2: Disconnect the negative terminal
- Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to loosen the negative terminal clamp.
- Lift the negative cable off the battery and move it aside so it cannot spring back.

- Remove the positive cable and keep it away from metal parts.
Step 4: Remove the battery hold-down

- Lift out the hold-down bracket.
Step 5: Remove the old battery
- Carefully lift the battery straight up. Batteries are heavy, so use both hands.
- Keep it upright.
Step 6: Clean the tray and terminals
- Use a battery terminal brush to clean corrosion from the cable ends if needed.
- Wipe the tray clean and check for acid damage or loose hardware.
Step 7: Install the new battery
- Set the new battery in the tray in the same orientation as the old one.
