Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the engine covers and gain access

• Use a trim clip tool and flat screwdriver to remove the upper engine cover and any intake ducting blocking access.
• Set the pieces aside in order so they go back the same way.

Step 2: Disconnect the battery

• Use a 10mm wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Move the cable away from the terminal so it cannot spring back and touch it.

Step 3: Remove the serpentine belt

• Use a serpentine belt tensioner tool (specialty) or a breaker bar on the tensioner to relieve belt tension.
• Slide the belt off the alternator pulley, then slowly release the tensioner.

• Reconnect the negative battery cable with a 10mm wrench.
