📋 Before You Begin

• 🅿️ Park on level ground, shift to neutral, set the parking brake, and chock a wheel.
• Open the tailgate for easy access to the taillight screws.
• Have a place to set the lamp so it doesn’t scratch (a towel works well).

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the left taillight housing

• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the two taillight mounting screws.
• Pull the taillight housing straight rearward to release the alignment pins.
• If it feels stuck, use a plastic trim removal tool (specialty) to gently help it pop free. (A trim tool is a plastic pry tool that won’t damage paint.)
• When reinstalling screws later: Torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs).

Step 2: Remove and replace the bulb (left side)

• Locate the main bulb socket on the back of the taillight.
• Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out of the housing.
• Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
• Install the new 3157 bulb by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
• Tip: Don’t touch the bulb glass.

Step 3: Reinstall the left taillight housing

• Insert the bulb socket back into the housing and twist clockwise to lock.
• Line up the housing’s locator pins and press the taillight straight into place.
• Install the two screws with a Phillips #2 screwdriver and torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs).

Step 4: Repeat for the right taillight bulb

• Repeat Steps 1–3 on the passenger-side taillight using the Phillips #2 screwdriver and plastic trim removal tool (specialty) as needed.
• Install the second 3157 bulb the same way (push-in fit).
• Reinstall and torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs).

✅ After Repair

• 🔦 Turn on the parking lights and confirm both rear running lights work.
• Press the brake pedal and confirm both brake lights brighten.
• Test left and right turn signals and hazard flashers.
• If a bulb doesn’t work, remove that housing again and re-seat the bulb and socket fully.
