📋 Before You Begin

• Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
• Make sure the engine is cool.
• Turn the vehicle OFF and remove the key fob from the cabin area.
• Open the hood and secure it fully.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the engine cover

• Lift the plastic engine cover straight up by hand. If it is tight, use a trim removal tool gently at the edge.
• Set the cover aside where it will not crack.

Step 2: Remove the ignition coil connectors

• Use a trim removal tool or your fingers to release each ignition coil electrical connector.
• Press the lock tab before pulling the connector off.
• Label connectors if needed.

Step 3: Remove the ignition coils

• Use a 10mm socket, ratchet, and extension bar to remove the coil hold-down bolts.
• Pull each ignition coil straight up by hand.
• Set the coils in order so they go back into the same cylinders.

Step 4: Clean the spark plug wells

• Use compressed air to blow dirt out of each spark plug tube before removing the plugs.
• This keeps debris from falling into the cylinders.

Step 5: Remove the old spark plugs

• Use a 14mm spark plug socket, extension bar, and ratchet to loosen each spark plug.
• Turn counterclockwise slowly until each plug is free.
• Lift the plug out carefully. Use a magnetic pickup tool if needed.

Step 6: Check and install the new spark plugs

• Compare the new plugs to the old ones to make sure they match.
• Install each new plug by hand first so you do not cross-thread the aluminum head.
• Use the 14mm spark plug socket to snug them down.
• Torque to 18 Nm (13 ft-lbs).
• Hand start every plug first.

Step 7: Reinstall the ignition coils

• Push each ignition coil straight down onto its spark plug.
• Install the coil bolts using a 10mm socket.
• Torque to 10 Nm (89 in-lbs).
• Reconnect each electrical connector until it clicks.

Step 8: Reinstall the engine cover

• Set the engine cover back in place and press it down evenly.
• Make sure it seats fully on its mounting points.

• Start the vehicle and let the engine idle.
• Check for a smooth idle and no warning lights.
• If the engine runs rough, recheck coil connectors and plug installation.
