🔧 Rear Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
The rear turn signal bulb on your Sierra is serviced from inside the taillamp housing. You’ll remove the taillamp assembly, twist out the bulb socket, and swap in the new bulb. If the turn signal is blinking fast after replacement, that usually means the bulb is not seated or the wrong bulb type was installed.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Park on level ground, shift to P, and set the parking brake.
- Let the taillamps cool before touching them if the lights were just on.
- Handle the new bulb with clean gloves or a clean cloth. Skin oil shortens bulb life.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.
- If the bulb is LED and not serviceable, the taillamp assembly may need replacement instead.

- Make sure you are using the correct bulb type for the rear turn signal/stop lamp position.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket

- Twist it clockwise until it locks.
- Make sure the socket sits flush.
Step 6: Reinstall the taillamp assembly

- Activate the turn signal and confirm normal flash rate and brightness.
- Check the brake light and parking light on that side too.
âś… After Repair
- Verify both rear lamps are seated evenly.
