🔧 Rear Turn Signal Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
The rear turn signal bulbs on your Accord are replaced from inside the trunk through the tail lamp access area. This is a quick job, but the trim pieces can be a little snug, so work slowly to avoid breaking clips or scratching the lamp housing.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and let the bulbs cool before touching them.
- Use care around painted trim and tail lamp lenses; they scratch easily.
- Do not touch the glass part of a halogen bulb with bare fingers. Use gloves or a clean paper towel.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the trunk and access the tail lamp area
- Open the trunk fully.
- Move the trunk liner or side trim panel near the rear lamp area to expose the bulb access opening.
- Work gently to avoid breaking clips.
Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach into the rear of the tail lamp assembly.
- Use your hand to rotate the turn signal bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out.
- If it is tight, use a flathead screwdriver very carefully to help release the socket tabs.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Twist the old bulb counterclockwise if it is a twist-lock style, or pull it straight out if it is a push-in style.
- Install the new bulb in the same orientation.
- Use gloves so you do not touch the glass portion of the bulb.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Line the socket tabs up with the opening in the tail lamp housing.
- Push the socket in and rotate it clockwise until it locks.
- Make sure it seats fully so moisture cannot enter.
Step 5: Test the turn signal
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
- Confirm the new bulb flashes normally and matches the other side.
✅ After Repair
