Your Forteās rear turn signal bulbs are inside the tail light housings and are accessed from inside the trunk. Youāll remove a small trunk liner cover, twist out the bulb socket, and swap the bulb.

šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the tail lamp service area
- Open the trunk and pick the side youāre replacing first (left or right).
- Use a flashlight to find the small access cover in the trunk liner behind the tail light.
- Use a plastic trim removal tool (specialty) to gently pop open/remove the access cover (a trim tool is a plastic pry tool that helps you remove panels without damaging them).
Step 2: Remove the rear turn signal bulb socket
- Look for the socket that corresponds to the turn signal (typically the amber/turn position in the tail lamp).
- Grip the socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves.
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new rear turn signal bulb (amber) straight into the socket until itās fully seated.
- Tip: If it feels loose, reseat it.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket and trunk liner cover
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp housing, making sure the tabs line up.
- Rotate the socket clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks.
- Reinstall the trunk liner access coverāpress it in until it clicks/feels secure.
Step 5: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1ā4 on the opposite tail light so both bulbs match brightness and color.
ā After Repair
- ā Turn the ignition to ON and test both rear turn signals.
- ā Turn on the hazards and walk around the car to confirm both rear turn signals blink evenly.
- ā If a bulb doesnāt work, remove it and reseat it fully in the socket.
