The rear turn signal bulb sits inside the rear tail lamp assembly. Youāll remove the tail lamp from the body, twist out the bulb socket, swap the bulb, then reinstall everything.

š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the liftgate for access to the tail lamp fasteners.
- Make sure all exterior lights are switched OFF.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the tail lamp fasteners
- Open the liftgate and look at the inboard edge of the rear tail lamp (the side closest to the liftgate opening).
- Use a flashlight to locate the two retaining screws/bolts.
Step 2: Remove the tail lamp screws
- Use an 8mm socket, 1/4" drive ratchet, and 3" extension to remove the two screws/bolts.
- Torque: Not specified by Ford for these fasteners; reinstall snug only (do not overtighten).
- Put the screws in a cup immediately.
Step 3: Pull the tail lamp assembly off the body
- Grip the tail lamp with both hands.
- Pull the lamp straight rearward (toward you). It is held by alignment pins/grommets.
- If it feels stuck, use a plastic trim removal tool very gently at the edge to help start it moving.
- Pull straight backādonāt twist.
Step 4: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- On the back of the tail lamp, identify the socket for the turn signal (follow the wiring from the vehicle connector if needed).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand, then pull it out.
- If the socket is tight, use nitrile gloves for extra grip.
Step 5: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket by hand.
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Apply a tiny amount of dielectric grease to the socket seal if it looks dry (this helps keep moisture out).
- Donāt touch the bulb glass.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket and tail lamp
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp and twist clockwise to lock.
- Align the tail lampās pins with the body grommets, then press the lamp straight inward until it seats flush.
- Reinstall the two screws/bolts using the 8mm socket, ratchet, and extension.
- Torque: Not specified by Ford; tighten snug only.

- Turn the ignition ON and test the rear turn signal and hazard lights.
- If the turn signal āfast flashes,ā remove the lamp and re-check that the bulb is fully seated and the correct bulb was installed.
- Verify the tail lamp is flush and not loose.
