🔧 Rear Turn Signal Bulbs - Bulb Replacement

On your Rogue, the rear turn signal bulb is accessed from inside the cargo area through the tail lamp service opening. This is a simple job if you work carefully and avoid touching the new bulb glass with bare fingers.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key/fob before starting.
  • Let the bulbs cool before touching the lamp housing.
  • Use care around the painted body edge so you do not scratch the lamp or quarter panel.
  • Do not force the bulb holder; twist gently to unlock it.
  • If the lamp connector is stiff, do not pull on the wires.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim panel removal tool
  • Flat plastic pry tool
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Clean microfiber cloth

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Open the liftgate and clear the cargo area so you can reach the rear lamp access area.
  • Keep the new bulb in its packaging until you are ready to install it.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the cargo access area

  • Open the liftgate and move to the side of the vehicle with the failed rear turn signal bulb.
  • Use your hands to remove any cargo items blocking the rear lamp access area.

Step 2: Remove the tail lamp access cover

  • Use a flat plastic pry tool or trim panel removal tool to gently pop off the rear lamp access cover inside the cargo area.
  • Work slowly so you do not crack the plastic cover.
  • Take your time at the edge clips.

Step 3: Remove the bulb holder

  • Locate the rear turn signal bulb socket behind the lamp housing.
  • Use your hand to twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out.
  • If needed, wear gloves for better grip.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

  • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
  • Install the new bulb into the socket with a gentle push.
  • Use a clean microfiber cloth to avoid touching the glass with bare fingers.
  • Hold the bulb by the base.

Step 5: Reinstall the bulb holder

  • Insert the socket back into the lamp housing.
  • Use your hand to twist it clockwise until it locks in place.
  • Make sure it sits fully seated and secure.

Step 6: Reinstall the access cover

  • Align the cover with the opening.
  • Use your hand to press it back into place until the clips snap in.
  • Check that the cover is flush with the trim.

Step 7: Test the new bulb

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the turn signal and confirm the bulb flashes normally.
  • Repeat on the other side if you are replacing both bulbs.

✅ After Repair

  • Check both rear turn signals for proper flash rate.
  • Verify the brake lights and tail lights still work normally.
  • If the bulb does not light, remove it and recheck seating in the socket.
  • Replace bulbs in pairs so both sides match brightness and color.
