🔧 Town & Country - Rear Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
You’ll remove the rear tail lamp assembly, twist out the turn-signal bulb socket, and swap in a new bulb. This fixes a fast-blink signal, a “bulb out” warning, or a rear turn signal that doesn’t light.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key/fob from the van.
- ⚠️ Let the bulbs cool before touching; they can burn you.
- ⚠️ Wear gloves—skin oils can shorten some bulb life.
- ⚠️ Support the tail lamp so it doesn’t drop and crack.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this repair.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the liftgate for access to the tail lamp fasteners.
- Tip: Do one side at a time.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the tail lamp fasteners
- Open the liftgate.
- Locate the two Phillips screws on the inboard edge of the tail lamp (the edge closest to the liftgate opening).
- Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove both screws.
Step 2: Remove the tail lamp assembly
- Hold the lamp with one hand, then pull the lamp straight rearward (toward you).
- If it feels stuck, use a plastic trim removal tool to gently start the lamp moving at the edges. Do not pry hard.
- Tip: A gentle wiggle helps release the locating pins.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- On the back of the tail lamp, find the socket for the turn signal.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand (use nitrile gloves for grip) and pull the socket out.
- Bulb socket: the plastic holder that locks into the lamp by twisting.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a wedge-style bulb).
- Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Avoid touching the glass with bare fingers; use nitrile gloves.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and test
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp and twist clockwise to lock.
- Turn the ignition ON and test the rear turn signal.
- If it doesn’t light, turn ignition OFF and re-check that the bulb is fully seated.
Step 6: Reinstall the tail lamp assembly
- Align the locating pins on the lamp with the body holes, then press the lamp straight into place.
- Install the two screws using a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
- Torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs) (snug only—do not overtighten).
âś… After Repair
- Verify left and right rear turn signals work normally (no fast-blink).
- Check hazard lights (all corners flashing).
- Confirm the tail lamp sits flush with the body and liftgate closes cleanly.
