🔧 Versa - Rear Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Versa’s rear turn signal bulb sits inside the tail lamp assembly and is accessed from inside the trunk. You’ll remove a small trunk liner access cover, twist the bulb socket out, and swap the bulb.
Assumption: Your Versa uses an amber single-filament rear turn signal bulb (commonly 7440A). HowToo will match the exact fitment.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and shift to P.
- Turn the hazard lights OFF so you’re not working around flashing lamps.
- Open the trunk and remove any cargo so you have room to work.
- Have your flashlight ready; the access area is dim.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the tail lamp from inside the trunk
- Open the trunk and locate the trunk liner behind the tail lamp on the side you’re replacing.
- Remove the access cover or pull back the liner using a trim clip removal tool.
- If a clip is stubborn, gently help it with a flat-blade screwdriver (pry carefully so you don’t tear the liner).
Step 2: Remove the rear turn signal bulb socket
- Use a flashlight to find the bulb socket going into the back of the tail lamp.
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about a quarter turn by hand to unlock it.
- Pull the socket straight out.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves.
- Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in type).
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you touched the glass, wipe with alcohol.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket and close up the trunk liner
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp housing.
- Twist clockwise by hand until it locks snugly (do not over-tighten).
- Reposition the trunk liner and reinstall any clips using the trim clip removal tool.
- If your access cover uses screws, reinstall them with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
Step 5: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for the other rear turn signal.
✅ After Repair
- Turn the ignition to ON and test the left and right turn signals.
- Turn on the hazard lights and confirm both rear turn signals flash at a normal rate.
- If it flashes fast, recheck that the bulb is fully seated and correct type.
- Verify the trunk liner is secured so it won’t rattle.
