š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the rear liftgate for access to the tail lamp fasteners.
- Put on safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the tail lamp screws
- Open the liftgate and locate the two screws on the inboard edge of the tail lamp (the side closest to the liftgate opening).
- Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove both screws.
Step 2: Pull the tail lamp assembly free
- Grab the tail lamp with both hands and pull it straight back from the body.
- If itās stuck, use a plastic trim removal tool to gently start the separation.
- Tip: Pull straight back to protect the alignment pins.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Find the turn/stop bulb socket on the back of the tail lamp (itās a twist-lock socket).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out.
- Use a flashlight if needed to identify the correct socket.
- Definition: A ātwist-lock socketā unlocks with a short twist instead of screws.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new 3157 bulb by pushing it straight in until fully seated.
- If you have it, apply a very light film of dielectric grease to the socket seal (not on the bulb glass).
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and test
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Turn the ignition to RUN and switch on the turn signal to confirm it flashes normally.
- If it doesnāt work, turn ignition OFF and re-check the bulb seating and socket lock.
Step 6: Reinstall the tail lamp
- Line up the tail lamp alignment pins with the body holes and press the lamp straight in until fully seated.
- Reinstall the two screws using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- Torque to 3 Nm (27 in-lbs)

- Verify the rear turn signal flashes at a normal speed on both sides.
- Verify brake lights work (rear bulb is often shared with turn signal).
- Make sure the tail lamp sits flush with the body and doesnāt wobble.
