• Park on level ground and set the parking brake.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the tail lamp fasteners

• Open the tailgate.
• Use a 10mm socket, 6" extension, and 1/4" ratchet to remove the two 10mm nuts/bolts securing the tail lamp.
• Put the fasteners somewhere safe so they don’t fall into the bed side.

Step 2: Pull the tail lamp housing straight back

• Grip the tail lamp with both hands and pull it straight rearward to release the alignment pins.
• If it’s stuck, use a trim/panel removal tool gently at the edge to help pop it loose.
• Pull straight back to avoid breaking pins.

Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

• Identify the turn signal socket (the one that feeds the amber blinking function).
• Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out of the tail lamp.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

• Wear nitrile gloves.
• Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
• Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
• If you have it, apply a very small amount of dielectric grease to the socket seal area (not on the bulb glass).

Step 5: Reinstall the socket and tail lamp

• Insert the socket back into the housing and twist clockwise to lock.
• Line up the tail lamp alignment pins and push the housing straight forward until it seats.
• Reinstall the fasteners using a 10mm socket and ratchet.
• Tighten the tail lamp fasteners with a torque wrench: Torque to 5.4 Nm (48 in-lbs).

Step 6: Repeat on the other side

• Replace the other rear turn signal bulb the same way.
• Replacing both keeps brightness even.
