Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Access the rear lamp area from the trunk

• Use a flashlight to locate the trunk-side trim behind the tail lamp on the failed side.
• Remove the small access cover or pull back the trunk liner near the tail lamp.
• If there are plastic clips, pry them gently with a plastic trim removal tool.
• If a clip is stubborn, use a small flat-blade screwdriver carefully. Tip: Pry the clip center first.

Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

• Find the turn signal bulb socket (usually a twist-lock socket). A twist-lock socket is a bulb holder that unlocks with a short twist.
• Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand, then pull it straight out.
