Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Get access to the rear lamp area
- Use nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Open the trunk and locate the trunk liner behind the tail light (left side for driver, right side for passenger).
- Use a flashlight to find the access flap/cover in the liner.
Step 2: Open the trunk liner access
- Use a trim panel removal tool to gently pop any plastic fasteners holding the access flap.
- If a fastener is tight, use a small flathead screwdriver to start lifting the center pin, then finish with the trim tool.
- Go slow to avoid breaking clips.
Step 3: Remove the turn-signal bulb socket
- Look for the bulb socket going into the tail lamp (a round twist-in holder with wires).
- Use nitrile gloves and rotate the socket counterclockwise about a quarter-turn, then pull it straight out.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb
- Use nitrile gloves and pull the bulb straight out of the socket.
- If itās stuck, gently wiggle it while pullingādonāt crush the glass.
Step 5: Install the new bulb
- Use nitrile gloves to install the new bulb into the socket (push straight in until fully seated).
- Apply a tiny smear of dielectric grease to the socket seal (rubber O-ring) if equipped.

- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp and turn it clockwise until it locks.
- Reposition the trunk liner and reinstall fasteners using the trim panel removal tool.

- Verify the flash rate is normal (fast flashing usually means a bulb is out or not seated).
