š§ Murano - Tail Light Bulb Replacement
On your Murano, some rear lights are serviceable ābulbs,ā but the red tail/stop light may be an LED thatās built into the lamp (not a replaceable bulb). The replacement steps depend on which rear light is out (turn signal, reverse, or tail/stop).

- ā ļø Turn the light switch OFF and remove the key before working.
- ā ļø Support the tail lamp with your hand when loosening fasteners so it doesnāt drop and scratch paint.
- ā ļø Donāt touch new bulb glass with bare fingers; use nitrile gloves to prevent hot spots.
- ā ļø Battery disconnect is not required, but avoid letting metal tools contact electrical terminals.

š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the rear hatch and remove cargo as needed for access.
- Identify the failed function by testing: tail lights ON, brake pedal pressed, turn signals, and reverse lights.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the tail lamp fasteners
- Open the hatch and locate the interior trim cover behind the tail lamp area.
- Use a trim panel removal tool to pop the access cover open.
- If your trim uses a screw, remove it with a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2: Remove the tail lamp assembly
- Use a 10mm socket, 6" extension, and 1/4" ratchet to remove the tail lamp mounting nuts.
- Pull the tail lamp straight rearward to release the locating pins (it will āpopā free). Pull straight back, not outward.
- Support the lamp so it doesnāt hang by the wiring.
Step 3: Remove the correct bulb socket (depends on which bulbs you mean)
- Find the socket for the failed light on the back of the lamp.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to remove it.
- If you mean rear turn signal bulbs: remove the turn-signal socket and pull the bulb straight out.
- If you mean reverse bulbs: remove the reverse-light socket and pull the bulb straight out.
- If you mean the red tail/stop lights: those are typically LED on your Murano and the bulb is not serviceableāreplace the rear combination lamp assembly on the affected side.
Step 4: Install the new bulbs
- Put on nitrile gloves.
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Reinstall the socket into the lamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
Step 5: Test before reassembly
- Hold the lamp safely in position.
- Test the repaired function:
- Turn signals: use the stalk.
- Reverse lights: key ON and shift to R with brake applied.
- Tail/brake: parking lights ON and press brake.
- If it doesnāt work, remove the socket and reseat the bulb and socket.
Step 6: Reinstall the tail lamp
- Align the locating pins and press the lamp straight in until fully seated.
- Install the mounting nuts using a 10mm socket and 1/4" ratchet.
- Torque to 7.5 Nm (66 in-lbs).
- Reinstall the access cover and any fasteners using the trim panel removal tool and Phillips screwdriver.
Step 7: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat the same steps for the opposite tail lamp so both bulbs are replaced as a pair.
ā After Repair
- Verify all rear functions: tail lights, brake lights, hazards, turn signals, reverse lights.
- Check that the lamp sits flush to the body and the hatch closes without rubbing.
- If moisture appears inside the lamp later, recheck that the bulb sockets are fully locked.
