š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the headlight switch to OFF and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
- Open the hood and use a flashlight to locate the rear of each headlight housing.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Make room to reach the bulbs
- On the tighter side, you may need to move the air intake snorkel/duct for hand space.
- Use a trim clip removal tool to pop up any plastic clips (a trim tool is a flat pry tool made to remove plastic fasteners without breaking them).
- If there are small bolts, remove them using a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.
- Gently lift the duct/snorkel out of the way and set it aside.
Step 2: Remove the electrical connector
- Reach behind the headlight and find the bulbās electrical connector.
- Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight off by hand.
- If stuck, wiggle gentlyādonāt yank wires.
Step 3: Remove the old bulb
- Locate the bulb base seated in the headlight housing.
- Twist the bulb base counterclockwise about 1/4 turn, then pull the bulb straight out.
- Compare the old bulb to the new one to confirm the same locking tabs and connector shape.
Step 4: Install the new bulb (no touching the glass)
- Put on nitrile gloves before handling the new bulb.
- Insert the new bulb into the housing in the same orientation as the old one.
- Twist the bulb clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks in place.
- It should seat flatādonāt force it.
Step 5: Reconnect and reassemble
- Push the electrical connector back onto the bulb until it clicks.
- Reinstall any ducting/snorkel you moved.
- Reinstall bolts using a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet (snug only; no torque spec typically provided for these small plastic-duct fasteners).
- Reinstall plastic clips by pressing them back in by hand (use the trim clip removal tool only if needed to align).
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Replace the bulb on the opposite headlight using the same steps.
- Replace in pairs for matching brightness/color.
ā After Repair
- Turn headlights ON and confirm both low beams work.
- Check high beams and turn signals to make sure nothing was bumped loose.
- At night, confirm the beams look even and not flickering.
