🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

Your Silverado uses two front wiper blades that wear out over time and leave streaks, chatter, or missed spots. Replacing both blades at the same time keeps the sweep even and restores clear visibility in rain.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the wipers fully off before starting.
  • Keep the ignition off while your hands are near the wiper arms.
  • Do not let a bare wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
  • If the wipers are icy or stuck, do not force them free.
  • No battery disconnect is required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • None required
  • Clean microfiber towel
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground with the ignition off.
  • Set the parking brake.
  • Lift each wiper arm gently away from the windshield one at a time.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Raise the wiper arm

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up on its own.
  • Hold the arm firmly.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Locate the small release tab where the blade connects to the arm.
  • Press the release tab and slide the blade downward to remove it from the hook-style arm.
  • Use your hand only; no tool is needed.

Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade

  • Slide the new 22" blade into the arm hook until it clicks into place.
  • Pull gently on the blade to make sure it is locked.
  • Listen for the click.

Step 4: Lower the driver-side arm

  • Carefully lower the arm back onto the windshield.
  • Do not let it drop.

Step 5: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Raise the passenger-side wiper arm.
  • Remove the old blade using the release tab.
  • Install the new 22" blade until it locks.
  • Lower the arm gently onto the glass.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the ignition on and test the wipers at low speed.
  • Make sure both blades sweep smoothly and do not skip or chatter.
  • Spray washer fluid and confirm full contact across the windshield.
