🔧 Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Silverado is a quick maintenance job that keeps the windshield clear in rain and spray. The blades use a standard hook-style arm, so this is a simple remove-and-install service.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before starting so the wipers cannot move unexpectedly.
  • Keep the wiper arms held securely when the blades are removed. The bare arm can snap against the glass and crack the windshield.
  • Work carefully around the glass edge and cowl area.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • None
  • Clean microfiber towel

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 22", Passenger: 22" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Make sure the ignition is off.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time so it does not spring back onto the glass.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm

  • Use your hand to gently lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Support the arm the whole time.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the hook-shaped arm.
  • Press the release tab and slide the blade downward to unhook it from the arm.
  • Remove the blade from the arm.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Take the new 22-inch blade and line up the hook with the connector.
  • Use your hand to slide the blade onto the arm until it clicks into place.
  • Lightly tug the blade to make sure it is locked on.

Step 4: Reinstall the arm carefully

  • Lower the wiper arm gently back onto the windshield.
  • Repeat the same steps for the passenger-side blade.

Step 5: Test the new blades

  • Turn the ignition on and run the washer/wiper system briefly.
  • Check that both blades sweep smoothly and do not chatter or lift.

✅ After Repair

  • Inspect both blades for even contact with the glass.
  • Test washer spray and wiper sweep in all speeds.
  • Replace the blades in pairs whenever one starts streaking or skipping.
