• Park on level ground and switch the ignition OFF.
• Lay a microfiber towel across the lower windshield to protect the glass.
• Use masking tape to mark where each blade sits on the glass (helps alignment).
• If your Escape has a wiper “service position” option, use it before lifting the arms.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Put the wipers in service position (if available)

• Turn the ignition ON, then OFF.
• Within a few seconds, move the wiper stalk to a single-wipe/quick-wipe command to park the wipers in a position where the arms can be lifted safely.
• If your Escape shows a menu option for this, use Menu > Settings > Vehicle > Wipers > Service Position (wording may vary).
• Not sure you have it? Continue carefully.

Step 2: Lift the first wiper arm safely

• Use your hand to lift the driver-side arm slightly and confirm it clears the hood edge.
• Keep the microfiber towel on the windshield under the arm.

Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade

• Look where the blade connects to the arm. You’ll usually see a small locking tab/button.
• Press the lock tab with your fingers. If it’s tight, gently help it with a small flathead screwdriver (do not pry hard).
• Slide the blade off the arm (direction depends on connector style) and remove it.
• Support the arm so it can’t snap down.

Step 4: Install the new wiper blade

• Match the new blade to the old one (same length, same connector adapter).
• Slide/snap the new blade onto the arm until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
• Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked in place.

Step 5: Repeat on the other side

• Repeat Step 2 through Step 4 for the passenger-side blade.

Step 6: Lower the arms and check alignment

• Carefully lower each arm back onto the windshield by hand (don’t let it drop).
• Remove the masking tape marks.

• Turn ignition ON and run the front wipers on low speed for 10–15 seconds.
• Spray washer fluid and confirm the blades wipe cleanly without skipping or chattering.
• If the wipers were in service position, turn the ignition ON and cycle wipers OFF to let them return to normal park.
