How to Replace Front Windshield Wiper Blades on a 2020 Toyota GR Supra
Step-by-step service position instructions, required tools/parts, safety tips, and quick post-install checks
🔧 Supra - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll put the wiper arms into a “service position” (a parked position that lets the arms lift safely), remove the old blades, and snap the new ones on. This prevents the wiper arms from hitting the hood edge and helps you avoid cracking the windshield.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🧤 Never let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
- 🛑 Work with the car on level ground and the wipers OFF.
- 🧼 Place a towel on the windshield where the arm could touch.
- 🔑 No battery disconnect is needed for this job.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on level ground, shift to Park, and turn the wipers OFF.
- 🧽 Lay a clean microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as a cushion.
- 🔧 “Service position” means the wipers park where you can lift the arms without rubbing the hood.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Put the wipers into service position
- Use the car’s controls to move the wipers to service position using ONE of the methods below.
- Method A (stalk sequence): With ignition on, then ignition off, immediately use the wiper stalk to command service position (some cars require holding the stalk briefly). Use your owner’s manual wording for “wiper service position.”
- Method B (infotainment): If your Supra has a wiper service option, use CAR > Settings > Wipers and select Service position.
- Tip: Don’t force the arms up if blocked.
Step 2: Lift one wiper arm safely
- Use your hands (wear nitrile gloves) to lift the wiper arm slightly off the glass.
- Keep the clean microfiber towel under the work area so the arm can’t hit bare glass.
Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade
- Use your hands to find the small release tab/clip where the blade connects to the arm.
- Press the tab and slide the blade off the arm (direction depends on the connector style).
- If the tab is tight, use a plastic trim tool (optional) to press it (don’t use metal on the arm/blade).
Step 4: Install the new wiper blade
- Use your hands to confirm the new blade’s connector matches the arm.
- Slide the new blade onto the arm until you hear/feel a firm “click.”
- Gently tug the blade with your hands to confirm it’s locked in place.
Step 5: Repeat for the other side
- Use the same steps and keep the clean microfiber towel under the arm area.
Step 6: Return wipers to normal position
- Use the infotainment option CAR > Settings > Wipers > Service position to exit (if used).
- Or use the wiper stalk to cycle the wipers once so they park normally.
- Remove the clean microfiber towel from the windshield.
âś… After Repair
- 🧴 Add washer fluid if low, then test washers and wipers at low speed.
- 🔍 Check for streaking, chatter, or missed spots (often caused by protective film left on the new blade).
- 🧼 Clean the windshield with glass cleaner for best wipe quality.
