šŸ”§ CX-30 - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades restores clear visibility and prevents streaking or skipping in rain. On your CX-30, it’s easiest (and safest for the hood) to put the wipers into a ā€œservice positionā€ before lifting the arms.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Don’t lift the wiper arms without service position; they can hit the hood edge.
  • āš ļø Don’t let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
  • āš ļø Keep fingers clear of the hinge; the spring tension is strong.
  • šŸ”‹ Battery disconnect is not required.

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Microfiber towel
  • Small flathead screwdriver

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 24", Passenger: 18" - Qty: 2

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and shift to Park.
  • Turn the ignition ON, then turn it OFF.
  • Within about 30 seconds, move the wiper stalk to MIST (up) two times to put the wipers in service position (they’ll move up the glass and stop).
  • Place a microfiber towel along the lower windshield/cowl area as a cushion.

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm safely

  • Use nitrile gloves and lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
  • Keep the microfiber towel in place in case the arm slips.

Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade

  • Find the connector where the blade attaches to the wiper arm.
  • If you see a small push button: press it and slide the blade down/off the arm while holding the arm steady.
  • If you see a pinch tab: pinch the tab and slide the blade off.
  • If it’s stuck, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently help lift the locking tab (don’t force it).
  • Hold the arm—don’t let it snap back.

Step 3: Install the new wiper blade

  • Compare the new blade to the old one (length and connector style should match).
  • Slide the new blade onto the arm connector until it clicks or locks in place.
  • Gently tug the blade with your hand to confirm it’s fully latched.

Step 4: Repeat for the passenger side

  • Use the same process to replace the passenger-side blade.

Step 5: Return the wipers from service position

  • Lower both wiper arms back onto the windshield carefully.
  • Turn the ignition ON and briefly operate the wipers (or turn ignition ON then OFF) to let them park back to their normal resting position.

āœ… After Repair

  • Test the wipers with washer fluid to confirm smooth, quiet wiping and full coverage.
  • If there’s chatter or streaking, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and a microfiber towel, then retest.
  • Recheck both blade connectors are fully clicked/locked if a blade looks loose.
