šŸ”§ Palisade - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Palisade is a quick maintenance job that improves visibility and reduces streaking. The key is getting the wiper arms into ā€œservice positionā€ so you can safely lift them without hitting the hood.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Keep fingers clear of the wiper hinge; it can pinch.
  • āš ļø Don’t let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
  • āš ļø Turn the ignition OFF before lifting wiper arms.
  • āš ļø No battery disconnect is required for this job.

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Microfiber towel
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 18" - Qty: 2

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • šŸ…æļø Park on level ground and shift to Park.
  • Turn the ignition OFF.
  • Have a microfiber towel ready to protect the windshield if the arm slips.
  • Put the wipers into service position using the stalk (the wiper control lever on the steering column).

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Put the wipers in service position

  • Cycle ignition ON, then ignition OFF.
  • Within about 20 seconds, use the wiper stalk and push it up once (mist position) and hold briefly until the wipers move up and stop in a raised ā€œserviceā€ position.
  • If it doesn’t work, retry the ON then OFF.

Step 2: Lift the wiper arm safely

  • Place a microfiber towel on the windshield under the wiper area.
  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the glass until it stays up on its own.

Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade

  • At the center where the blade connects to the arm, find the small release tab/clip.
  • Press the release tab with your fingers and slide the blade down/out of the hook/connector.
  • Once it releases, pull the blade fully off the arm.

Step 4: Install the new wiper blade

  • Confirm you’re installing the correct length blade (Driver: 26", Passenger: 18").
  • Slide the new blade onto the arm’s connector until you hear/feel a click.
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked in place.

Step 5: Repeat for the passenger side

  • Repeat Step 2 through Step 4 on the passenger side with the 18" blade.

Step 6: Return wipers to the normal parked position

  • Carefully lower both wiper arms back onto the windshield.
  • Turn ignition ON and briefly turn the wipers on, then off, to let them park normally.

āœ… After Repair

  • 🧪 Spray washer fluid and run wipers at low speed to confirm smooth, quiet wiping.
  • Check that both blades wipe the full area without streaks or skipping.
  • If there’s chatter, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and a microfiber towel.
