🔧 Blazer - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing the front wiper blades on your Blazer is a quick maintenance job that improves visibility and safety in rain. You’ll lift the wiper arms, remove the old blades from the hook-style connector, and snap on the new blades.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the hinge when lifting the wiper arm.
- ⚠️ Do not let the bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.

- Windshield washer fluid - Qty: 1 gallon
📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and switch the ignition off.
- Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield where each wiper arm could touch. This helps protect the glass.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arm
- Lift the driver-side wiper arm up and away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Keep the microfiber towel underneath as a safety cushion.
Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade from the J-hook
- At the middle of the blade, find the connector where the blade meets the arm.
- Press the small release tab on the connector with your finger while sliding the blade down toward the base of the arm to unhook it.
- A “J-hook” is the curved, hook-shaped end of the wiper arm that the blade clips onto.
Step 3: Install the new wiper blade
- Align the new blade’s connector opening with the J-hook end of the arm.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a click.
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked in.
Step 4: Lower the wiper arm carefully
- Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield slowly by hand.
- Remove the microfiber towel.
Step 5: Repeat for the passenger side
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for the passenger-side wiper blade.
- Install the correct size blade on each side (driver vs passenger).
✅ After Repair
- Turn the ignition on and run the wipers on low speed to verify smooth wiping and no skipping.
- Top off washer fluid and test the washers to confirm the spray hits the windshield correctly.
- If you hear chatter, clean the windshield and blades, then re-test. Dirty glass can mimic bad blades.
