š Before You Begin
- Park your CX-5 on level ground and turn the engine off.
- Have your new blades unboxed and ready (makes the arms stay up for less time).
- Move the wipers into service position (so the arms can lift safely):
- Ignition ON (do not start) ā Ignition OFF ā within 30 seconds, move the wiper stalk to MIST (one quick up-wipe) two times. The wipers should park partway up the windshield.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm service position
- Verify the blades are stopped partway up the glass (service position).
- If they are still down at the cowl, repeat: use the wiper stalk to MIST two times after switching ignition OFF.
Step 2: Lift the driver-side wiper arm
- Use mechanic gloves and lift the arm away from the windshield until it holds itself up.
- Place a clean towel under the arm on the glass as a cushion.
Step 3: Remove the old blade (use the connector style you have)
- Look where the blade attaches to the arm.
- If you see a push-button: press the button using your thumb (or a small flathead screwdriver gently), then slide the blade straight off the arm.
- If you see a hook (J-hook): rotate the blade perpendicular to the arm, press the small locking tab with a small flathead screwdriver, then slide the blade down toward the base of the arm to unhook it.
- Donāt pry hardātabs break easily.
Step 4: Install the new driver-side blade
- Match the new blade to the old one (length and connector).
- Slide the new blade onto the arm until it clicks or locks.
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm itās latched.
Step 5: Lower the driver-side arm carefully
- Hold the arm firmly and lower it onto the windshield slowly.
- Remove the clean towel.
Step 6: Repeat on the passenger-side
- Use the same process: lift arm, protect glass with a clean towel, remove blade, click in the new one, lower the arm slowly.
- Use a step stool if reaching feels awkward.
Step 7: Exit service position
- Turn ignition ON.
- Use the wiper stalk for one normal wipe, or turn wipers ON then OFF, to let them return to their normal parked position.

- Spray washer fluid and run the wipers on low to confirm smooth wiping and no skipping.
- Check that both blades are fully seated and not crooked.
- If you hear clacking, stop and re-check the connector lock.
