🔧 C-HR - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
On your C-HR, the front wiper arms park partly under the hood edge, so you typically need to move the wipers into a “service position” before you can lift the arms safely.
You’ll remove each old blade from the wiper arm and snap the new blade on. Then you’ll return the wipers to their normal parked position.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.6 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Do not let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass—put a towel on the windshield if needed.
- 🛑 Replace one blade at a time so you don’t mix up sizes.
- 🛑 Keep fingers clear of the hinge area when lifting the arm.
- âś… Battery disconnect is not required for this job.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and shift to P.
- Turn the wipers OFF.
- Have a microfiber towel ready to protect the windshield.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Put the wipers in “service position”
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Within about 30 seconds, move the wiper stalk to MIST (one quick up) and hold it there for about 2 seconds.
- The wipers should move up the windshield and stop, giving you room to lift the arms.
- If they don’t move, try again once.
Step 2: Lift the driver-side wiper arm safely
- Place a microfiber towel on the windshield under the blade area.
- Lift the wiper arm up until it stays up on its own.
Step 3: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade (J-hook style)
- Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the arm.
- Press the tab with your fingers; if it’s stubborn, gently help it with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
- Slide the blade down and off the hook. (The “J-hook” is the J-shaped end of the wiper arm.)
Step 4: Install the new driver-side wiper blade
- Line up the new blade’s connector with the hook on the arm.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid click.
- Lightly tug the blade to confirm it’s locked.
Step 5: Repeat on the passenger-side wiper blade
- Use the same process: towel down, lift arm, press tab, slide off, slide new blade on until it clicks.
- Passenger blade is shorter—don’t swap sides.
Step 6: Return wipers to normal parked position
- Gently set both wiper arms back onto the windshield.
- Turn ignition ON.
- Run the wipers once using the stalk (LOW then OFF) so they park normally.
âś… After Repair
- Spray washer fluid and run the wipers to confirm smooth, quiet wiping with no streaks.
- Check that both blades are fully clicked in and not loose.
- If you hear a “clack,” re-check the blade is locked onto the hook.
