🔧 Pathfinder - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll be removing the old front wiper blades and snapping new ones onto the wiper arms. Fresh blades improve visibility and reduce streaking, especially in rain and at night.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep a firm grip on the wiper arm—if it snaps back, it can crack the windshield.
- ⚠️ Put a towel on the windshield where the arm could hit.
- ⚠️ Do not run the wipers with no blades installed.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this job.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Microfiber towel

📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Pathfinder on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield as a cushion.
- If your wiper arms don’t lift high enough to work comfortably, use the service/maintenance position below.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: (Optional) Put the wipers in service position
- Try lifting the driver-side wiper arm with work gloves on. If it lifts easily and clears the hood, you can skip this step.
- If it doesn’t lift enough, do this common Nissan method: turn ignition ON, then turn ignition OFF, then within 60 seconds move the wiper stalk to MIST (one quick wipe) twice to park the wipers higher.
- Stop once the blades are easy to reach.
Step 2: Lift the wiper arm safely
- Use a step stool if needed so you’re not pulling at an awkward angle.
- Lift one wiper arm up and keep the microfiber towel under it on the glass.
Step 3: Remove the old blade (most common: J-hook)
- Flip the blade so it’s perpendicular (90°) to the wiper arm.
- Find the small release tab on the blade connector.
- Press the tab with your fingers (use work gloves) and slide the blade down toward the bottom of the hook, then unhook it.
- Don’t let the bare arm touch glass.
Step 4: If your connector is a pinch-tab style (alternate)
- Squeeze the two side tabs on the connector with your fingers (use work gloves).
- While squeezing, pull the blade straight off the end of the arm.
Step 5: Install the new blade
- Match the new blade length to the side: 26" driver, 17" passenger.
- Slide the new blade onto the wiper arm connector until you hear/feel a solid click.
- Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked on.
Step 6: Lower the arm carefully
- Guide the arm down slowly onto the windshield using work gloves.
- Repeat Steps 2–6 for the other side.
✅ After Repair
- Remove the microfiber towel from the windshield.
- Turn ignition ON and run the front washers/wipers for a few swipes to confirm smooth, quiet wiping.
- If you used service position, cycle the wipers once to return them to normal park.
