How to Replace Front Windshield Wiper Blades on a 2018 Nissan Armada
Beginner-friendly step-by-step wiper blade swap with tools, safety tips, and fitment checks

🔧 Armada - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll remove the old front wiper blades from the wiper arms and click new blades into place. Fresh blades restore clear vision in rain and reduce streaking and chatter.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep the wiper arm from snapping onto the glass—place a towel on the windshield.
- ⚠️ Do not turn the wipers on with a blade removed.
- ⚠️ Lift wiper arms gently; don’t force them past their normal range.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this job.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Clean shop towel
- Safety glasses
- Nitrile gloves
- Small flathead screwdriver
🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front wiper blade (driver side) - Qty: 1
- Front wiper blade (passenger side) - Qty: 1
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park your Armada on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Place a clean shop towel on the windshield under each wiper arm to protect the glass.
- If your new blades didn’t come with the correct adapter, reuse the original adapter from the old blade (it’s the plastic “connector” between blade and arm).
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Put the wipers in a position you can lift
- Option A (most common): Gently lift each wiper arm up off the glass by hand.
- Option B (if the hood blocks the arms): Use this Nissan-style “service position” attempt: turn ignition ON, then OFF, then within 10 seconds move the wiper stalk to MIST (one quick wipe) twice. If the arms move up and stop mid-windshield, you’re in service position.
- If it won’t enter service position, use Option A.
Step 2: Remove the old driver-side blade
- Lift the driver-side wiper arm and keep your clean shop towel on the glass underneath.
- Rotate the blade so you can see the connector where it clips to the arm (the “J-hook” style hook is common).
- Press the release tab on the connector by hand. If it’s stiff, use a small flathead screwdriver gently to press the tab.
- Slide the blade down/off the hook, then remove it from the arm.
Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade
- Confirm the new blade has the correct adapter installed (the plastic piece that locks onto the arm).
- Slide the new blade onto the wiper arm hook until it clicks/locks.
- Gently tug the blade with your hand to confirm it’s fully latched.
Step 4: Repeat for the passenger-side blade
- Repeat removal and installation on the passenger side using your clean shop towel for windshield protection.
- Make sure you install the correct blade on each side (they’re usually different lengths).
Step 5: Set the wiper arms back onto the windshield
- Lower each wiper arm back down gently onto the windshield.
- Remove the clean shop towel from the glass.
âś… After Repair
- Spray washer fluid and run the wipers for 10–20 seconds to confirm smooth, quiet wiping.
- Check that both blades park normally at the bottom of the windshield.
- If there’s streaking, clean the windshield and blade rubber with a damp towel.
