🔧 Soul - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll be removing the old front wiper blades from the wiper arms and snapping new blades into place. Wiper blades wear out from sun and grime, which causes streaking, chattering, and poor visibility in rain.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before lifting wiper arms.
- 🧤 Don’t let the bare wiper arm snap onto the glass—place a towel on the windshield where the arm could land.
- âś‹ Watch pinch points at the blade latch area.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Lay a clean towel on the lower windshield as a cushion.
- Lift one wiper arm at a time to avoid mixing up blade sizes.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm
- Use work gloves and lift the wiper arm until it stays up on its own.
- Keep the clean towel on the glass under the arm. Prevents windshield chips if it drops.
Step 2: Unclip the old blade from the arm
- Use safety glasses and look at where the blade meets the metal arm (the “adapter”).
- Press the small release tab/clip on the adapter and slide the blade downward (toward the base of the arm) to unhook it.
- If it’s stuck, wiggle the blade while keeping the tab pressed. Old blades can bind from dirt.
Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade (24")
- Use work gloves and align the new blade’s adapter with the hook on the end of the wiper arm.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
- Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked.
Step 4: Lower the driver-side arm carefully
- Use work gloves and lower the arm back to the windshield slowly.
- Remove and reposition the clean towel as needed.
Step 5: Repeat on the passenger side (20")
- Use work gloves and repeat Steps 1–4 for the passenger-side blade, installing the 20" blade.
âś… After Repair
- đź’§ Turn the ignition ON and test wipers on LOW, then HIGH.
- Use the washer spray to confirm there’s no skipping or streaking.
- If there’s chattering, clean the windshield and blade rubber with glass cleaner and a towel.
