🔧 Forte - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Forte is a quick job that restores clear visibility in rain. You’ll remove the old blades from the wiper arms and snap the new blades on the same way.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before starting.
  • ⚠️ Don’t let the wiper arm snap onto the glass—hold it and set it down gently.
  • ⚠️ Place a towel on the windshield under the wiper arm while working.
  • Battery disconnect is not required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Microfiber towel
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 24", Passenger: 18" - Qty: 2

đź“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and make sure the wipers are OFF.
  • Lay a microfiber towel on the windshield under each wiper arm.
  • If your hood blocks the wiper arms from lifting, put the wipers into “service position”:
  • With the car ON, turn it OFF, then within about 20 seconds pull the wiper stalk to MIST once to park the wipers higher on the glass. If this doesn’t work, skip it.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and protect the wiper arm

  • Use a microfiber towel to protect the windshield where the arm could touch.
  • Lift one wiper arm up and away from the glass until it stays up on its own.

Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade

  • Hold the wiper arm with one hand so it can’t spring back.
  • At the blade’s center where it clips to the arm (J-hook style), press the release tab and slide the blade down and off the hook.
  • If it’s stuck, wiggle the blade while keeping the arm steady. Don’t twist the arm.

Step 3: Install the new wiper blade

  • Remove the new blade from its packaging.
  • Slide the new blade onto the wiper arm hook until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked in place.

Step 4: Lower the arm carefully and repeat

  • Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield slowly (don’t let it drop).
  • Repeat Steps 1–3 for the other front wiper blade.

Step 5: Exit service position (if used)

  • Turn the ignition ON and briefly operate the wipers once, then turn them OFF to return to normal parked position.

âś… After Repair

  • Test the wipers on LOW speed and verify smooth wiping with no skipping.
  • Use washer fluid and confirm both blades wipe cleanly without streaks.
  • If you hear chattering, clean the windshield and blade rubber with a damp towel.
