How to Replace Front Windshield Wiper Blades on a 2018 Dodge Challenger
Step-by-step wiper blade change guide with required tools, parts, fitment tips, and safety precautions

🔧 Challenger - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll remove the old front wiper blades from the wiper arms and snap on new blades. This restores clear visibility and prevents the wiper arms from scratching the windshield if the rubber is worn out.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep the ignition OFF while working near the wipers so they don’t move unexpectedly.
- ⚠️ Do not let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass—place a towel on the windshield or hold the arm.
- ⚠️ Avoid lifting the wiper arm too far; it’s spring-loaded and can chip the windshield if it snaps back.
- Battery disconnect is not required.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Safety glasses
- Nitrile gloves
- Clean microfiber towel

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Make sure the wipers are in their “parked” position at the bottom of the windshield.
- Place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the wiper area to protect the glass.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arm safely
- Use your hands (wear nitrile gloves) to lift one wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Keep the clean microfiber towel under the arm in case it slips.
- Hold the arm when the blade is off.
Step 2: Unclip the old wiper blade from the arm
- Rotate the wiper blade so you can see the connection where the blade meets the arm.
- At the connector, press the small release tab and slide the blade downward/off the arm’s hook.
- If it’s tight, wiggle the blade while holding the arm steady with your other hand.
Step 3: Install the new wiper blade
- Take the new blade and line up its connector with the wiper arm hook.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked on and won’t slide off.
Step 4: Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield
- Use your hand to guide the arm down slowly onto the glass.
- Remove the clean microfiber towel.
Step 5: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for the other front wiper blade.
- Make sure both blades sit flat against the windshield.
âś… After Repair
- Start the car and test the wipers on LOW and HIGH.
- Spray washer fluid and confirm both blades wipe cleanly without streaks or chatter.
- If a blade streaks, wipe the windshield and the rubber edge with a clean towel, then retest.
