š Before You Begin
- Park your Malibu on level ground and shift to Park.
- Turn the ignition on, then turn it off.
- Within about 8 seconds of shutting the ignition off, use the wiper stalk to command service position: move the stalk to MIST and hold for about 2 seconds until the wipers move up where you can lift them.
- Place a clean microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as a cushion.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Protect the windshield
- Use painters tape to mark the resting position of each blade on the glass (optional, but helpful).
- Use the clean microfiber towel to cushion the windshield under the wiper arm area.
- Prevents chips if the arm snaps down.
Step 2: Lift the driver-side wiper arm
- Use mechanic gloves and lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Keep one hand on the arm the whole time so it canāt spring back.
Step 3: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade
- Use safety glasses and your hands to find the small release tab/clip where the blade connects to the arm.
- Press the release tab and slide the blade off the arm hook/connector.
- If it feels stuck, gently wiggle while keeping the tab pressedādonāt force it.
- āRelease tabā is the small lock you press.
Step 4: Install the new driver-side wiper blade
- Use your hands to align the new blade connector with the wiper arm connector.
- Slide/snap it on until you hear/feel a solid click.
- Lightly tug the blade (by hand) to confirm itās locked.
Step 5: Repeat on the passenger-side
- Use mechanic gloves to lift the passenger wiper arm.
- Use your hands to press the release tab and remove the old blade.
- Use your hands to snap the new blade on until it clicks.
Step 6: Lower the arms carefully
- Use your hands to guide each wiper arm down onto the windshield gently.
- Remove the clean microfiber towel and painters tape.
Step 7: Exit service position
- Use the ignition and wiper stalk to run the wipers once, or turn ignition on and back off, to let them return to the normal parked position.

- Test wipers on low speed, high speed, and one wipe; verify smooth movement and no chatter.
- Test washer spray and confirm the blades clear water without streaks.
- If streaking happens, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and wipe the blade rubber with a damp towel.
