🔧 Pacifica - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing the front wiper blades restores clear visibility in rain and helps prevent windshield streaking and chatter. This is a quick DIY job, but you’ll want to lift the wiper arms carefully to avoid cracking the glass.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep the wiper arm from snapping onto the windshield; place a towel on the glass as protection.
- ⚠️ Turn the vehicle OFF before handling the wipers so they can’t move unexpectedly.
- ⚠️ On your Pacifica, the wipers may park close to the hood edge; use the “service position” steps below if you can’t lift the arms normally.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and turn the vehicle OFF.
- Lay a microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as a safety cushion.
- If your wiper arms won’t lift because they’re tucked near the hood, use the “service position” option in Step 1.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Put the wipers in a position you can access
- Option A (most common): With the vehicle OFF, gently lift each wiper arm away from the glass by hand.
- Option B (if arms won’t lift due to hood edge): Turn the vehicle to ignition ON, then OFF, then immediately use the wiper stalk to command a single wipe so the arms stop higher on the glass (service position).
- Keep the microfiber towel on the windshield while you work.
Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade from the driver-side arm
- Lift the driver-side wiper arm up.
- Find the connector where the blade clips to the arm (the “adapter” is the plastic piece that locks the blade to the arm).
- Press the small release tab with your fingers; if it’s stuck, use a plastic trim tool (specialty) to gently press the tab. Don’t pry on the glass.
- Slide the blade down and off the end of the arm.
Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade
- Align the new blade’s connector with the arm’s hook/connector.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a click (that click means the lock tab engaged).
- Lightly tug the blade to confirm it’s locked on.
Step 4: Repeat removal/installation for the passenger-side blade
- Repeat the same release-tab and slide-off process on the passenger side.
- Install the new passenger blade and confirm it clicks and locks.
Step 5: Carefully return the arms to the windshield
- Lower each wiper arm slowly back onto the glass.
- Remove the microfiber towel.
âś… After Repair
- Turn the vehicle ON and run the front washers to test for smooth wiping and no skipping.
- If you used the service position, cycle the wipers once so they park normally.
- Wipe the windshield with glass cleaner if the new blades streak (often it’s road film on the glass).
