🔧 Front Windshield Wipers - Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Tundra is a quick maintenance job that restores clear visibility in rain and road spray. The key is using the correct blade lengths and snapping the new blades into the factory-style arm correctly.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and make sure the wipers are parked before lifting the arms.
  • Lift only one wiper arm at a time so it does not snap back onto the glass.
  • Place a towel on the windshield to protect the glass in case the arm slips.
  • Do not let the bare metal wiper arm hit the windshield.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Microfiber towel
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade - Driver: 24", Passenger: 20" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground with the ignition off.
  • Make sure the wipers are fully parked at the bottom of the windshield.
  • Fold a towel over the windshield where the arm could touch it.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm

  • Use your hand to gently lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Place the microfiber towel under the arm area as a safety cushion.
  • Hold the arm firmly.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • At the blade joint, press the small release tab with your fingers.
  • Slide the old blade down and off the hook-style arm.
  • If it feels stuck, wiggle it slightly while keeping the arm steady.

Step 3: Install the new driver blade

  • Take the new 24" front wiper blade and align the connector with the arm hook.
  • Slide it onto the hook until you hear or feel a click.
  • Pull lightly on the blade to make sure it is locked in place.

Step 4: Replace the passenger blade

  • Repeat the same removal process on the passenger side.
  • Install the new 20" front wiper blade the same way.
  • Make sure both blades sit flat and straight on the windshield.

Step 5: Lower the arms and test

  • Carefully lower both wiper arms back onto the glass.
  • Start the vehicle and run the wipers with windshield washer fluid.
  • Check for smooth movement, no streaks, and no clicking noise.

✅ After Repair

  • Test the wipers on a wet windshield to confirm full contact.
  • Make sure both blades park in the correct position at the bottom.
  • If either blade chatters or streaks, recheck the install position.
