🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Prius C is a quick maintenance job that restores clear visibility in rain and spray. The blades use a simple connector style, so this is usually a fast, beginner-friendly repair.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the wipers off before starting so they do not move unexpectedly.
  • Keep the wiper arm from snapping back onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
  • Work carefully around the driver-side arm near the hood edge.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.
  • Protect the windshield edge.

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Make sure the ignition is off and the wipers are in the parked position.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time away from the glass.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm

  • Use both hands to lift the wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Place a microfiber towel on the glass under the arm in case it slips.
  • Hold the arm firmly.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Locate the small release tab where the blade connects to the arm.
  • Use a small flat-blade screwdriver if needed to gently press the tab.
  • Slide the blade downward and off the arm hook.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Align the new blade connector with the arm hook.
  • Slide it into place until it clicks.
  • Pull lightly on the blade to make sure it is locked in.

Step 4: Repeat on the other side

  • Repeat the same removal and installation process for the second blade.
  • Install the larger blade on the driver side and the smaller blade on the passenger side.

Step 5: Lower the arms carefully

  • Lower each arm gently back onto the windshield.
  • Do not let the arm snap down.
  • Wipe the glass clean with a microfiber towel.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the ignition on and test the wipers with washer fluid.
  • Check that both blades sweep smoothly and do not chatter.
  • If either blade streaks, recheck that it is fully locked in place.
