🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

The front wiper blades on your Prius are a simple clip-on replacement. You’ll remove the old blades from the wiper arms, then snap the new ones into place and check the sweep for proper fit and contact.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and keep the wipers fully parked before starting.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time so it does not snap back against the glass. That can crack the windshield.
  • Place a towel on the glass under the wiper arm if you want extra protection.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.
  • Keep your fingers clear of the wiper arm spring tension.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Microfiber towel

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade set - Driver: 26", Passenger: 16" - Qty: 1 set

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on a level surface and switch the ignition off.
  • Make sure the wipers are in the fully lowered position on the windshield.
  • If your new blades include adapter pieces, keep them handy before starting.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm

  • Use your hands to gently lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Tip: Lift the arm slowly.

Step 2: Remove the old driver-side blade

  • Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the arm.
  • Press the tab by hand and slide the blade downward to release it from the hook-style arm.
  • Remove the old blade from the vehicle.

Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade

  • Slide the new 26" blade onto the wiper arm hook until it clicks into place.
  • Pull lightly on the blade to confirm it is locked.

Step 4: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Lift the passenger-side wiper arm by hand.
  • Press the release tab on the old blade and remove it.
  • Install the new 16" blade and make sure it locks fully.

Step 5: Lower both wiper arms carefully

  • Use both hands to lower the arms back onto the windshield one at a time.
  • Make sure they sit flat and do not twist.

Step 6: Test the new blades

  • Turn the ignition on and run the wipers with windshield washer fluid.
  • Check that both blades sweep smoothly and clear the glass evenly.
  • If a blade chatters or streaks, remove it and confirm it is fully locked.

✅ After Repair

  • Spray washer fluid and verify clean, streak-free wiping.
  • Listen for any clicking or loose fit at the blade connection.
  • Recheck blade size if coverage looks uneven.
