🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm
- Put on safety glasses and mechanic gloves.
- Lift the wiper arm up and away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Keep one hand on the arm.
Step 2: Remove the old blade from the J-hook
- At the joint where the blade meets the arm, find the small release tab.
- Press the tab by hand; if it’s stuck, gently help it with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
- Slide the blade down toward the base of the arm to unhook it from the “J” shape.
- Once it’s unhooked, rotate the blade slightly and lift it off the arm.
Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade
- Remove packaging from the new blade and confirm it’s the 28" blade.
- Feed the wiper arm’s J-hook through the new blade’s connector opening.
- Pull the blade up until you hear/feel a click (that click means the lock tab engaged).
- Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked and won’t slide off.
Step 4: Lower the driver-side arm carefully
- Guide the arm down by hand until the blade rests on the windshield.
- Do not let the arm drop freely.
Step 5: Repeat on the passenger side
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for the passenger side using the 17" blade.
- Use the shop towel again to protect the glass while the arm is raised.
✅ After Repair
- 🚿 Start the car and run the washers for 2–3 seconds, then run the wipers on LOW.
- 🔍 Check for streaking, skipping, or one side not wiping (often means the blade didn’t fully click in).
- 🧼 If they chatter, wipe the windshield with glass cleaner and a clean towel.
