šŸ”§ Accord - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

You’ll remove the old front wiper blades from the wiper arms and snap on new blades. On your Accord, putting the wipers into ā€œmaintenance/service positionā€ makes the arms easier to lift safely and helps prevent accidentally cracking the windshield.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-20 minutes

Assumption: Your Accord uses 26" (driver) and 16" (passenger) front blades.

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Never let a bare wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
  • āš ļø Keep fingers clear of hinge points when folding the wiper arms up.
  • āš ļø Turn the ignition OFF before working near the wipers.
  • āš ļø Place a towel on the windshield while swapping blades for extra protection.

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves
  • Microfiber towel

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 16" - Qty: 2

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and switch the ignition OFF.
  • Put a microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as a cushion.
  • Set the wipers to service position so the arms are easier to lift: Ignition ON > Ignition OFF > within 30 seconds hold the wiper stalk in MIST for 2+ seconds.

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Move the wipers into service position

  • Use the wiper stalk to run the service position sequence: Ignition ON > Ignition OFF > within 30 seconds hold MIST for 2+ seconds.
  • The wipers should stop partway up the windshield where you can safely lift the arms.

Step 2: Lift the wiper arms carefully

  • Use work gloves and gently lift one wiper arm away from the glass.
  • Slide the microfiber towel under the arm area for extra protection.
  • Do one side at a time.

Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade

  • Use your hands (with work gloves) to find the release on the blade where it attaches to the arm.
  • If it’s a push-button style: press the button and slide the blade downward off the arm.
  • If it’s a J-hook style: rotate the blade 90° and slide it down and out of the hook.
  • Set the old blade aside, and keep holding the arm so it doesn’t snap back.

Step 4: Install the new wiper blade

  • Use your hands to match the new blade’s connector to the wiper arm type (most blades include adapters).
  • Slide the new blade onto the arm until it clicks or locks.
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s fully seated and won’t slide off.

Step 5: Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield

  • Use your hand to guide the arm down slowly onto the glass.
  • Remove the microfiber towel and repeat Steps 2–5 for the other side.

Step 6: Return wipers to normal parked position

  • Turn the ignition ON and use the wiper stalk to turn wipers ON briefly, then OFF, so they park normally.

āœ… After Repair

  • Turn the ignition ON and test: washer spray + low speed + high speed.
  • Check for streaking or skipping. If it chatters, clean the glass and blade edge with a damp towel.
  • Make sure both blades are fully latched and not loose on the arms.
