🔧 Front Wiper Blade Replacement
Your XC90 uses push-tab style front wiper blades, so this is a quick DIY job. You’ll remove the old blades from the wiper arms and snap the new ones in place. Work one side at a time.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the ignition off before working on the wipers.
- Keep fingers clear of the wiper arm. The spring tension can snap it down hard.
- Protect the windshield with a towel if you lift the arm away from the glass.
- Do not let the bare wiper arm drop onto the glass.

- Place a clean towel on the glass under the arm for protection.
Step 2: Remove the old blade
- Locate the release tab on the wiper blade connector.

- If it resists, keep the arm steady and wiggle the blade slightly while holding the release tab.
Step 3: Install the new blade
- Align the new blade with the wiper arm connector.
- Slide it in until it clicks into place.
- Lightly tug the blade to confirm it is locked.
Step 4: Repeat on the other side
- Replace the second front wiper blade the same way.
- Make sure both blades are fully seated and facing the correct direction.
Step 5: Lower the arms carefully
- Guide each arm back down by hand.
- Remove the towel only after both arms are safely back on the glass.
✅ After Repair
- Turn the wipers on and check for smooth operation.
- Confirm both blades clear the glass evenly with no chatter or skipping.
