Assumption: Most NX setups use 26" driver and 16" passenger blades, but wiper sizes can vary by brand/style—match the length printed on your current blades or measure them before buying.

🔧 NX - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

You’ll put the front wiper arms into “service position,” remove the old blades, and click the new blades on. This restores clear wiping and prevents streaks, chatter, and poor visibility in rain.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the wiper hinge area; it can pinch.
  • ⚠️ Put a shop towel on the windshield; a bare wiper arm can snap down and crack glass.
  • ⚠️ Do not turn the wipers on with blades removed.
  • ⚠️ Battery disconnect is not required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Clean shop towel
  • Masking tape

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 16" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park your NX on level ground and shift to P.
  • Turn the ignition to OFF.
  • Place a clean shop towel along the lower edge of the windshield as a cushion.
  • Put the wipers into service position (this lifts them up where you can access them).

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Put the wipers in service position

  • Turn the ignition OFF.
  • Within about 45 seconds, use the wiper stalk (the lever on the steering column) and move it to MIST and hold for 2 seconds.
  • The wipers should move up and stop partway up the windshield.
  • If they don’t move, repeat the OFF then MIST-hold.

Step 2: Lift the wiper arm safely

  • Use your hands to lift one wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Use masking tape to mark the blade’s parked position on the glass (helps alignment if bumped).
  • Keep the clean shop towel under the arm area as protection.

Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade

  • At the connection point (where the blade meets the arm), find the release tab/button.
  • Common connector A (push-button “top lock”): Press the button with your thumb, then slide the blade downward (toward the base of the arm) to unhook it.
  • Common connector B (pinch-tab): Squeeze the two side tabs together, then slide the blade off the arm.
  • Use nitrile gloves for grip if it’s tight.

Step 4: Install the new wiper blade

  • Compare the new blade to the old one for matching length.
  • Slide the new blade onto the arm’s connector until you hear/feel a click.
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked in place.
  • Don’t force it—recheck blade direction and adapter.

Step 5: Lower the arm carefully

  • Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield slowly.
  • Remove the masking tape.
  • Repeat Steps 2–5 for the other side.

Step 6: Return wipers to normal parked position

  • Turn ignition to ON.
  • Use the wiper stalk to run the wipers once, then turn them OFF so they park normally.
  • Remove the clean shop towel from the windshield.

✅ After Repair

  • Spray washer fluid and run the wipers on LOW for 10–15 seconds.
  • Check for streaking, skipping, or a loose blade (any “clacking” can mean it didn’t click in fully).
  • Wipe the windshield edge where the blades park using a clean shop towel.

💰 DIY vs Shop Cost

Shop Cost: $40-$90 (parts + labor)

DIY Cost: $25-$60 (parts only)

You Save: $15-$30 by doing it yourself!

Shop labor rates vary but typically run $100-$150/hour. This repair takes a shop approximately 0.2-0.5 hours.
